2009 Biography[]
Starting violin lessons at the age of 5, Jared has since studied flute, trumpet, piano and guitar. As he is still unable to actually play any of those instruments, he spends his time singing and dancing instead. He started dance lessons with Deborah Hale after watching his sister's dance classes, and over a period of 10 years has had lessons in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet and Contemporary Dance.
At the age of 11 he performed the role of Gavroche in the 2002 Wellington Musical Theatre season of Les Miserables, a role he went on to play in 3 more productions of the show. As a boy soprano, Jared sang for the NBR New Zealand Opera Company in the operas Tosca and Carmen. He had a supporting role in an episode of TV2's children's drama series Freaky. After 8 years of appearing in Musical Theatre productions, he was last seen on stage in Cats at the Opera House in Wellington, and in the New Zealand premiere of the off broadway cult/rock hit Bat Boy: The Musical playing the roles of Pan, Ron Taylor and Ned. For the past 3 years Jared has been having singing lessons with Jane Keller.
