Stephanie Lawrence was an Oliver Award nominated British musical theatre actress who created the role of Pearl in Starlight Express.
She performed in Cats in the West End as Grizabella, along with numerous other roles, the most noteworthy being Mrs. Johnstone in Blood Brothers, a role which she received a Tony nomination for when she performed the role on Broadway.
She sadly passed away in November, 2000.

Stephanie Lawrence (Pearl) made her debut on the West End stage in Forget Me Not Lane by Peter Nichols at the Apollo Theatre. in 1978 she starred in the hit musical Bubbling Brown Sugar at the Royalty Theatre. During this time superstar Johnnie Mathis chose her to duet with him on the hit single "You Saved My Life". They later recorded an album together. In 1979 Hal Prince chose Stephanie to star in Evita. While performing this taxing role she ran in the 1982 London Marathon for her chosen charity Multiple Sclerosis, and appeared in many television shows including The Royal Variety Show performed before Her Majesty The Queen, and her own one woman show for BBC Television. In 1983 she gave up the part of Evita to create the most coveted stage role for many years - Monroe in Marilyn The Musical in which she opened at the Adelphi Theatre to outstanding reviews acclaiming her as London's brightest new star. Stephanie has recently appeared in numerous television shows including The Two Ronnies, BBC Television, The David Frost End Of Year Show, Channel 4, The Les Dawson Show and Wogan for BBC Television. On February 7th 1984 Stephanie won the award for Best Stage Actress Of The Year presented by The Variety Club Of Great Britain, which was recorded by BBC Television.
